Here's a link to a recent EPA news item that involves Clean Water Act violations from feedlots. Summed up: feedlots (beef, chicken, eggs . . ) put so much concentrated waste into waterways that they actually violate federal laws. IMAGINE how much manure it takes to do that! Read on:

Dad's becoming a vegan . . .
So my dad has been keeping me company here in Concord for the past few weeks until Myke can come up and start his job. We've been having a great time and I'm slowly turning him into a vegan. . . part of my master plan. . .
Anyway, he claims to really enjoy it and to have better energy and focus, so if anyone is interested in trying it for a week, I will post some recipes. They're delicious! As an added benefit, a vegetarian/vegan diet can help lower your cholesterol and blood pressure. (And these recipes have the added benefit of all-natural cleansing, for you coloniphiles out there).
Just one thing - it's not strictly vegan - we still eat (local) eggs and honey - vegans would frown upon both of these things. I consider eggs to be half-vegetable in nature and I just really like honey, so deal with it, vegans.
Some famous vegans:
Alicia Silverstone (from some movie I can't remember in the late 90s)
The songwriter from Def Leppard (yes, seriously). pour some sugar on that, fool
Chewbacca
(so the last one is speculation, but can you disprove it?)

Just say NO
to Facebook, that is. Follow these directions to opt-out of getting ads from companies who want to use Facebook as a giant electronic billboard. Because these companies paid Facebook to advertise, all your default "advertise to me" settings are YES. Here's how to say NO:
As of today, NEW PRIVACY setting called "Instant Personalization" shares data with non-Facebook websites and it is automatically set to "Enable." Go to Account>Privacy Settings>Applications and Websites>Instant Personalization>at bottom of page Edit Settings, and un-check "Enable". BTW if your friends don't do this, t...hey will be sharing information about you.
